Tailoring the Essence of Luxury

Fabrics For Tailored Suits

Luxury tailored suits, built on the world’s best suit fabrics

A tailored suit reflects personality in every detail. The true quality of a suit lies not only in visible details but at its core: the fabric. How a suit falls, breathes, moves, and ages is largely determined by the quality of the textile.

Kristiaan Esch International works with renowned Italian weavers. These fabrics are chosen by connoisseurs and worn by professionals who value comfort, durability, and timeless class.

Kristiaan Esch belongs to a very select group of tailors who not only master these exceptional fabrics but also fully unlock them through advanced online configurators. This way, we combine traditional tailoring with modern ease of use, without compromising on exclusivity or craftsmanship.

The Foundation

Why fabric is the foundation of every tailored suit

Within tailoring, the fabric is paramount. Each suit fabric is developed with specific properties such as breathability, thermoregulation, durability, and a natural drape.

At Kristiaan Esch, we select fabrics not just by name or popularity, but by functional performance within the overall suit concept. Fabric, construction, and silhouette are always considered as a whole. This results in a tailored suit that retains its shape and appearance for years.

01

Loro Piana

Finesse, sheen, and exceptional luxury.

Loro Piana – The absolute reference in luxury suit fabrics

Loro Piana is recognized worldwide as a reference in luxury suit fabrics. All fabrics are fully woven and finished in Italy, with merino wool sourced from Australia and New Zealand and cashmere from strictly controlled origin areas.

The result is an unparalleled balance between softness, performance, and visual elegance.

Vitale Barberis Canonico

Sustainable luxury for everyday use.

The backbone of modern luxury tailoring since 1663

Vitale Barberis Canonico — often abbreviated to VBC — is one of the oldest and most influential fabric houses in the world. Founded in 1663 and located in Pratrivero, Biella (Italy), this house has formed the foundation of high-quality suit tailoring for centuries.

While some fabric houses focus on appearance, Vitale Barberis Canonico stands for structural perfection and wearing comfort. VBC fabrics are designed to be worn — day in, day out — without losing their shape, appearance, or performance.

Soft luxury & cashmere tailoring.

Heritage, craftsmanship, and the purest cashmere in the world

Fratelli Piacenza 1733 is the oldest still-active fabric house in the world. For over 290 years, knowledge of fiber processing, weaving, and finishing has been passed down from generation to generation in Pollone, Biella (Italy).

Piacenza stands out for its artisanal production methods and exceptional control over quality and softness

Fabrics are not “produced,” but developed — often over a period of dozens of days.

Drago

Modern Italian innovation.

Modern Italian tailoring with energy, lightness, and innovation

Lanificio Drago was founded in 1973 by the Drago family in Biella, Italy, the historical center of high-quality wool production.

Although Drago is younger than houses like Loro Piana or Vitale Barberis Canonico, it has quickly developed into a leading fabric house for modern suit tailoring.

Drago combines Italian craftsmanship with a progressive approach to lightweight and performance fabrics.
